So I have been dwelling on Joshua 6 all day long and I can’t help but think that God is trying to tell me something.
"But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things…," it says.
What happened was, as they were leaving the Jericho in the dust, the people of Israel were commanded not to touch or take with them any of the accursed items consisting of silvers, golds and other materials. Some people disobeyed this and thus kindled the anger of God, who then removed His protection. They went from being invincible, able to destroy entire nations without even lifting a sword, to becoming utterly defenseless against the attack of their enemies.
Was it worth it? Were those seemingly precious items, worth the protection and favor of God?
It makes me wonder what things in my life I am holding onto in disobenience that have caused me to be vulnerable before the enemy. I believe there are things that we attach ourselves to that tear us away from being effective in our walks with Christ and thus leave us powerless against the attack of the enemy. Once we surrender those elements, He is faithful and just to forgive us, show us mercy, draw us back into His grace. It is never in an act of hatefulness, but always to protect us. He knows better than we do and wants the best for us.
So take some time today and consider the very last thing that you felt God was telling you to let go of? Did you let go? What have you suffered lately because of it? Do you feel weak and like you’re a constant target of the enemy? May it be time to let go?
I know what it was for me. What is it for you?@4 months ago with 1 note
